Skulls, 1991

12 silver gelatin prints, of which 8 are printed at 20” x 24” and 4 are printed at 16” x 20” in an edition of 8

While working on the Dispossession series, I rejected a number of skull images that were strong but didn’t work within the whole. Some I had photographed without the black base; some felt too human in their expressiveness; and others were gestural in ways that did not combine well with the death mask. Of these, I printed the strongest in a separate series titled Skulls.
