A year or two year after printing the Meditation work as triptychs, I spent some time looking at them again. Viewed individually, each image seemed to transmit an internal vibration, whereas the energy in the triptychs resulted from the contrast and movement between the three images.
The single images offered a different emotional experience. Therefore, I decided to print the images individually and bigger – large enough that they would feel hypnotic, but not so large that the light beyond the circles’ edges might tend to disappear. An additional image was included in the series.
